Function:
To conveying the waste plastic film material into the compactor for processing, working with metal detector to finding the metals and protection the blades in compactor and also for keep screw safe.

The cutter-compactor is a critical pre-treatment unit for PE/PP film & flexible scrap pelletizing, installed upstream of the main extruder.

1. Size reduction & cutting Cuts large, fluffy film scraps into small fragments by rotating knife groups, avoiding long strips that wrap the extruder feeding screw.
2. Densification / agglomeration Frictional heat generated by high-speed rotation softens the material surface (not full melting). Low-bulk-density loose film is compressed into dense hot agglomerates.

Bulk density is greatly improved, solving material bridging, hanging-up and uneven feeding in the hopper.

1. Forced feeding to extruder Compacted material lumps are pushed directly into the extruder feed throat. Stabilizes extruder load, reduces current fluctuation, and raises overall production capacity by 20-40%.
2. Pre-degassing of moisture & volatile substances Frictional heating releases partial free water, ink volatile gas and low-molecular additives ahead of the extruder. Less burden for extruder venting system, reduces bubble defects in final pellets.
3. Temperature control with water-spray cooling Integrated water spray cooling prevents over-friction, over-melting and carbonization inside the chamber, avoids black specks and burnt particles.

LASER FILTER FUNCTION ON PELLETIZING MACHINE

Laser filter (self-cleaning laser melt filter) is installed between extruder barrel and die-head for PE / PP film, rigid flake pelletizing line. It uses laser-drilled solid alloy disc plates instead of woven wire mesh, with internal rotating scraper for online self-cleaning and continuous slag discharge.

Core Functions

1. High-precision melt impurity filtration Captures solid contaminants: sand, stone, paper, wood fiber, textile, metal fragments, aluminum, rubber, and un-melted polymer particles from post-consumer waste melt. Filtration fineness adjustable: 80-800μm, delivers clean melt for high-quality recycled pellets suitable for film-blowing & injection molding.
2. Continuous self-cleaning, no stop for screen change Rotating scraper blades continuously scrape accumulated contaminants from upstream surface of laser-drilled disc plates, impurities are discharged through independent slag outlet while production keeps running. Zero downtime for screen replacement; eliminates frequent shutdowns caused by clogged traditional wire-mesh screens.
3. Stabilize melt pressure for steady pelletizing Real-time pressure sensor feedback automatically adjusts scraper rotating speed and slag-discharge screw. Melt pressure remains stable; avoids pressure fluctuation, surging, die-hole blocking and uneven pellet size.
4. Long service life & low consumable cost Laser-drilled alloy steel disc plate is robust against high pressure and abrasion. Unlike fragile woven wire mesh, it will not tear or expand aperture under pressure. Greatly cuts screen-consumption cost and manual labor for screen changing.
5. Low material loss during slag discharge Only small portion of melt is carried out together with impurities. Typical melt loss controlled within 1-3%, much lower than conventional screen-changer waste loss.
6. Protect downstream die-head & pelletizing system Blocks hard foreign particles from entering die holes, prevents die-orifice damage, avoids black specks, hard inclusions and defective pellets. Reduces wear of water-ring cutting blades.

DIE-FACE CUTTING (Hot-Face Cutting / Water-Ring Pelletizing)
Die-face cutting is a hot-cut pelletizing method. Rotating knives cut molten polymer immediately as it exits the die-plate holes, before the melt cools down. Water-ring is the most common die-face cutting solution for PE / PP film recycling lines.
Working Principle
Polymer melt flows through multiple orifices on the die-plate. High-speed rotating cutter blades sit tightly against the die surface. Hot extrudate is sheared instantly at the die-face. Cut hot pellets are quenched and transported by circulating water (water-ring chamber), then sent to centrifugal dryer for de-watering.
Core Functions
Direct hot cutting for soft low-melt-strength materials Perfect for LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, PP film scraps which are soft and sticky. Avoid strand breakage, tangling and manual threading required by strand pelletizing.
Produce uniform lenticular / round pellets Pellet dimension is controlled by cutter rotating speed and extruder output. Frequency-driven cutter motor allows on-line pellet-size adjustment without stopping production.
Cutting & cooling happen simultaneously Fresh-cut hot pellets are immediately cooled by high-speed circulating water. Effectively prevents pellets sticking together, critical for tacky film-recycling melt.
High-automation & continuous running No strand bath, no manual re-threading. Matches well with compactor, laser filter and continuous screen-changer for fully automatic recycling lines, saving labor and floor space.
Protect product quality Precise knife-to-die-face clearance (0.05-0.15mm) minimizes tails, fines and ragged edges. Well-adjusted die-face cutting reduces dust generation compared with strand cutting for recycled polyolefin film.
